What I want to know is the consequences of this? I’m ignoring the “think of the children” argument by assuming OpenAI just takes either payment info or government ID’s for this feature because OpenAI wants to “treat adults like adults”. Personally I am against it because I think that there is a severe risk of revenge erotica and non consensual acts can be generated by people without moderation, both of which are illegal.
Interesting. Erotica devs pioneered much of the tech that drives the streaming video YouTube now uses. That was significant in a good way. GenAI is another twist. It feels weird to think this, but good could come from GenAI porn. For example, some might say there’s something positive about a smaller porn workforce.
However, I once read a moving study on the effects certain female-image related social media has on viewers. I imagine porn has effects that are just as bad. Porn viewers beware.
Ultimately, it’s a shock I wasn’t expecting from OpenAI and says a lot about the company. It is only one of many recent feature rollouts and policy changes. Does it say anything to you about OpenAI? What?
To me, it seems more like a way to make profit rather than following any ethics. Erotica is addictive and warps minds and so having an on demand tap of AI generated erotica will bring in a large amount of revenue. Its a shock policy change for the purpose of profit generation only. But it does show its shift fully from the non profit approach it originally had.
